Dr. Ferguson graduated with his Masters Degree in Animal Behavior in 1986 from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He graduated with honors with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1992 from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He was certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and Veterinary Herbal Medicine from the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in 1999. Dr. Ferguson has also attended human acupuncture school but has elected to not be a licensed human acupuncturist due to his passion for his veterinary patients.
Dr. Ferguson is the President of both the American Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, and the World Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. In 2005, Dr. Ferguson was the recipient of the Ma Shi Huang Award as the TCVM Practitioner of the Year.
Dr. Ferguson has trained eastern martial and meditative arts for over 30 years. He is at home and in love with the outdoors. Dr. Ferguson bikes, kayaks, canoes, camps and travels in his leisure time. Dr. Ferguson lives a life of joy and love with his beloved wife, Suzanne Hughes, and two greyhounds in Saint Augustine, Florida.
Dr. Ferguson also teaches Veterinary Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicine, Veterinary Tui Na, and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Food Therapy at the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in Reddick, Florida. He has studied with the founder of the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine and Jing Tang Herbs, Dr. Huisheng Xie, since 1998 and is the first graduate of the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine.
Dr. Ferguson lectures both nationally and internationally in the field of TCVM. He has lectured at six different veterinary colleges including the University of California at Davis , Tufts University, Colorado State University, the University of Florida, Murdoch University in Perth, Australia and Massey University in New Zealand. He has spoken at the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, the Qi Academy in Germany, Chi Institute Europe in Spain, Chi Institute Australia, and speaks and teaches occasionally at the North American Veterinary Conference. Dr. Ferguson was an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Murdoch University’s School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences for 7 years where he taught veterinary students and practiced TCVM at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Bruce Ferguson is both a practitioner and instructor in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). His practice is referral-based in Saint Augustine, Florida. Dr. Ferguson offers Veterinary Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Tui Na, and Whole Food Therapy to his veterinary patients.
Although Dr. Ferguson graduated in the top of his class from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, he soon discovered the deficiencies of Western Biomedicine and began a 2 decade journey of discovery of a safe and effective manner in which to practice veterinary medicine.
